Mumbai, March 23: Jalgaon Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra went to polls on April 23 in the third phase of general elections. BJP candidate Unmesh Bhaiyyasaheb Patil was elected as Member of Parliament from Jalgaon. BJP leader AT Nana Patil is the current Member of Parliament (MP) from Jalgaon seat. However, the BJP denied him a ticket in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
In its bid to retain Jalgaon Lok Sabha seat, the BJP fielded Unmesh Bhaiyyasaheb Patil. As per the seat-sharing agreement between the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the parliamentary seat is with the letter. NCP nominated Gulabrao Deokar as its candidate. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-Shiv Sena combine together won 41 out of the 48 seats in Maharashtra. The Congress bagged only two seats and NCP just four. Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases - on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
