The ruling BJP and the Congress were caught in a close fight in Madhya Pradesh, where Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is seeking a record fourth term. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ramlal Rautel is leading in Anuppur against Congress candidate Bisahulal Singh.

The counting of votes for assembly election MP Assembly Elections 2018 amid high security. The results will be out by Tuesday afternoon. 

Bhopal, December 11: The counting of votes for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election will be held on Tuesday amid high security. The state went to poll on November 28 and 65.5% voters exercised their franchise just over 7% less than the figure in the previous polls. The total voter turnout was 75%, an election official said. In Jaitpur (ST), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Manisha Singh while the Congress has fielded its candidate Uma Dhurve. In the 2013 polls, Jai Singh Maravi of the BJP had won the seat.

In Kotama, Dilip Jaiswal is the BJP candidate while Suneel Saraf is from the Congress party. In the 2013 polls, Manoj Kumar Agrawal of the Congress party had won the seat.

The BJP has this year fielded Narendra Maravi of the BJP against Phundelal Singh Marko of the Congress party in Pushprajgarh (ST). In 2013 polls, Phundelal of the Congress had won the seat. In Bandhavgarh (ST), the BJP has fielded Shivnarayan Singh against Dhyan Singh Parste of the Congress party. In the last elections in 2013, Gyan Singh of the BJP had won the seat. In Manpur (ST), the BJP has fielded Sushree Meena Singh this time. In the 2013 elections, Meena Singh had won the seat.
