Raipur, December 11: The election to the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly was held in two phases: firstly, in 18 seats across eight Maoist-affected districts on November 12 and then on November 20, remaining 72 constituencies in 19 districts. And on Tuesday, it is the much-anticipated vote counting day in Chhattisgarh. From 8 am, election official began counting the postal ballots and a half-hour later, votes from the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were counted. Jaijapur Assembly Seat
Jaijapur constituency comes under the Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh, and it is the only seat BSP was able to win in the 2013 elections. Its leader Keshav Prasad Chandra was able to defeat Dr Kailash Sahu of BJP by 2500 votes. He is up against Anil Kumar Chandra of Congress and Kailash Sahu of BJP in the current election to safeguard his seat.
Pamgarh Assembly Seat
The Pamgarh seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribes candidate and comes under the Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. Ambesh Jangre of BJP is the incumbent MLA having defeated BSP’s Dujram Bouddh by 8000 votes in the last election. The candidates from Pamgarh seat in 2018 election are Ambesh Jangre of BJP, Indu Banjare of BSP and Gorelal Berman of Congress.
Saraipali Assembly Seat
Saraipali in Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh is the third least populous sub-district of the state. The seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidate, and the current MLA from this seat is Ram Lal Chouhan. He defeated Dr Haridas Bharadwaj of Congress in the last election by a huge margin of 28000 votes. In the current election, BJP have given a ticket to Shyam Tandi while Congress have fielded Kismat Lal Nand and BSP Chhabilal Ratre.
Basna Assembly Seat
The Basna Assembly seat is part of Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh. The seat is currently held by BJP leader Rupkumari Choudhari who defeated Devendra Bahadur Singh in the 2013 election by 6200 votes. DC Patel of BJP, Devendra Bahadur Singh of Congress and Trilochan Nayak of the newly formed JCC are the are the competitors from this seat in the 2018 elections.
Khallari Assembly Seat
Khallari is present in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district and is home to the famous Khallarimata Temple which attracts thousands of visitors each year. Chunni Lal Sahu is the incumbent MLA from Khallari after he defeated Paresh Bagbahra by 5900 votes in the 2013 election. The candidates have changed for the 2018 election though with BJP’s Monika Sahu, Congress’ Dwarikadheesh Yadav and JCC’s Paresh Agarwal in the race for the MLA post.
Mahasamund Assembly Seat
Mahasamund constituency is part of Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh and also houses the administrative headquarter of the district. The incumbent MLA is Dr Vimal Chopra, an independent candidate defeated Agni Chndrakar of Congress in the 2013 election by 4700 votes. The contesting candidate in the current election are Poonam Chandrakar of BJP, Tribhuwan Mahilang of JCC and Vinod Chandrakar of Congress.
