Bhopal, December 11: The battle of ballots in Madhya Pradesh is underway as the counting of votes for the 230 assembly seats in the state is currently underway. The results of the Assembly polls 2018 will be declared on December 11 and will be out by evening. We, at LatestLy, bring you updates on the results for six MP Vidhan Sabha constituencies- Jabalpur Purba, Jabalpur Uttar, Jabalpur Cantt, Jabalpur Paschim, Panagar, Sihora. Polling was held in the state on November 28 and around 75 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Deputy Election Commissioner C B Kumar had said. In Jabalpur Purba (SC), the BJP has pitted Aanchal Sonkar against Congress candidate Lakhan Ghanghoria. In 2013 polls, the Jabalpur Purba (SC) seat was won by Anchal Sonkar of the BJP.
In Jabalpur Uttar, the BJP has fielded Sharad Jain against Congress candidate Vinay Kumar Saxena. BJP's Sharad Jain Advocate was the winner from the Jabalpur Uttar seat in 2013 polls.
In Jabalpur Cantt, the BJP has pitted Ashok Rohani against Alok Mishra of Congress. In the last polls in 2013, BJP's Ashok Rohani had won the Jabalpur Cantt seat with 83676 votes against 29935 by Congress candidate Sarveshwar (Chaman) Shrivastava. In Jabalpur Paschim, the BJP has fielded Harendrajeet Singh Babbu against Tarun Bhanot of Congress. The seat was won by BJP's Tarun Bhanot by 62668 votes in the 2013 polls.
In Panagar, the BJP has fielded Sushil Tiwari (Indu) against Congress candidate Sammati Prakash Saini. In 2013 assembly elections, Susheel Kumar Tiwari of the BJP had won with 82358 votes.
In Sihora (ST), Nandini Maravi has been fielded as the BJP candidate against Khiladi Singh of the Congress party. In 2013, Nandhini Maravi of the BJP had won the Sihora (ST) with 63931 votes.
In 2013 assembly poll, the BJP had won 165 seats out of the total 230 seats while the Congress had won 58, BSP settled for four and independents for three. The keenly-watched constituency will be Budhni, the home turf of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The Congress has pitted former Union minister and former Madhya Pradesh Congress committee chief Arun Yadav against Chouhan.
