Jayant Rajaram Patil of NCP has won the Islampur Assembly constituency in Maharashtra by defeating the Independent candidate Nishikant Prakash Bhosale- Patil (Dada). Islampur is one of the 288 Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) constituencies of Maharashtra. Geographically, the constituency of Islampur falls under the ambit of Sangli district, which also comprises of seven other districts. The Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced that the elections in Maharashtra will be conducted in a single-phase manner, and hence the electorate in Islampur constituency will vote on October 21.

The current MLA from Islampur is Jayant Rajaram Patil, who belongs to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). In Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2014, it was Jayant Rajaram Patil who defeated an Independent candidate while securing 1,13,045 votes in his favour. In Maharashtra Assembly Polls 2009, it was Jayant Rajaram Patil who won the elections from this constituency. The Election Commission, on September 21, announced the election dates of Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Elections 2019. The last date to file nominations and withdraw them was October 4 and 7 respectively. It was announced that the voting will be done in a single-phase manner on October 21.

The votes will be counted on October 24, and results for Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 will be announced on the same day. The EC had said that all the electoral procedures will be completed before Diwali, i.e. October 28.

In its guidelines, the EC had said that all the specially-abled persons and senior citizens should be provided all the services for smooth conduct of polls. At least one polling station in every assembly constituency will be women-exclusive only where the entire election staff, security and police personnel will be women only.
