Bhopal, April 7: Even as the Income Tax Department (I-T) raids are underway at the residence of Praveen Kakkar, who is OSD to Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, the chartered accountant (CA) of Kakkar reached his residence late night. Chartered Accountant Anil Garg said that the Income Tax officials asked him for copies of income tax returns (ITR) filed by him over the years. Income Tax Dept Raid Houses of Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath’s Aides Praveen Kakkar and Rajendra Kumar Miglani.

Congress leaders including Kamal Nath and Anand Sharma questioned the timing of the raids. CM Kamal Nath accused the Central government of using democratic institutions like the ED and CBI for settling political scores.

Kakkar's CA Garg added that he brought all the ITRs filed by him in the last seven years along with him and claimed that his client had all the essential documents for the jewellery recovered by the I-T department in the raids.

The Income Tax department on Sunday raided residence of OSD to Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Praveen Kakkar and other close aides of MP CM Kamal Nath. The I-T sleuths conducted raids at Kakkar’s Vijayanagar residence in Indore since 3 am in the morning. For the first time in raids, the team was accompanied by CRPF police personnel. The Enforcement Directorate had already questioned Kamal Nath’s nephew earlier. Searches were held at more than 50 locations, said sources. Searches were also conducted in Bhopal, Indore,Goa and other 35 locations in Delhi.
