Kolkata, January 29: Addressing his first poll rally in West Bengal, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb drew a Mahabharata analogy while predicting the outcome of the parliamentary polls in the state. Describing the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "Pandavas", Deb said the saffron outfit will prevail over the Trinamool "Kauravas" led by CM Mamata Banerjee.

Addressing the BJP's "Ganatantra Bachao" rally in Hooghly district on Tuesday, Deb described Mamata as "Dhritarashtra" -- the blind king of Mahabharat era. Similar to his blindness, the Trinamool chief is turning a blind eye to the "murders being committed" by her party cadres across the state, Deb added. Citing Mahabharata, Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb Claims Internet Existed in Ancient India.

The Tripura CM warned his Bengal counterpart to forfeit the "culture of violence", saying that she would be "digging her own grave" if the alleged attack on political opponents by the TMC workers continue unabated.

In the panchayat polls held last year, Deb said, more than 70 political workers affiliated to the parties contesting against the Trinamool were murdered. "Rampant rigging was witnessed in the elections," he added, claiming that democracy was totally subverted in the state under Mamata's leadership.

Apart from Deb, a rally was also addressed in West Bengal today by BJP president Amit Shah. At the public meeting held in East Midnapore, Shah gave the war cry, asking the party cadres to target winning at least 21 of the 42 constituencies of Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"What happened to Bengal? Where did 'Shonar Bangla' go? Bengalis in India are looking for it today. All are looking at Bengal...For this nation, it might be an election to make Modi ji PM once again but for Bengal, the election is to make 'Shonar Bangla'," Shah said.
