IIT PhD Fellowship For ASEAN Students: External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Launch Programme

The PhD programme will allow and offer 1,000 PhD fellowships to students of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Institute of Information Techonology (IITs) in India. New Delhi, September 16: External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal launched the PhD fellowship programme in the IITs for ASEAN students in Delhi on Monday. Speaking about the International PhD Fellowship Programme (IPFP), Prof V. Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, said: “Having meritorious PhD students coming to IIT Delhi from all over the world (as part of the programme ) and will not only enhance the quality of research happening at IIT Delhi but will also help India develop its soft power across the world. The cultural diversity that will happen because of this step will go a long way in generating new research ideas.” Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Directors of all 23 IITs, Chairman of UGC and Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog were also present at the event, officials said.
