Ranchi, December 24: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) executive president Hemant Soren will take oath as Chief Minister of Jharkhand on December 29. The JMM emerged as the single largest party in the recently concluded assembly elections with 30 seats. Meanwhile, Congress-JMM-RJD alliance won 47 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to win only 25 seats. JMM working president Soren on Tuesday met Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu and staked claim to form government in the state. Earlier in the day, he was formally elected as the JMM legislature party leader. A day after the Jharkhand Assembly results were declared, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) chief Babulal Marandi met Soren and extended support to the JMM. Speaking to reporters, Marandi said, “Our party will support Hemant Soren, unconditionally, because he has the required majority.” The JVM bagged only three seats. This will be the second term of Soren as chief minister in the mineral-rich state. According to reports, the chief ministers of other states will also be invited to the oath-taking ceremony. Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi along with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, are likely to be invited.
