Mumbai, May 22: After BJP's failure to prove majority in Karnataka state, the Party President Amit Shah called Congress-JD(S) post-poll alliance as "unholy." On Tuesday, JD(S) Chief Kumaraswamy reacted to the statement: "If our pact is unholy. Then what is a holy alliance? Was it trying to purchase legislators elected on other party symbols? Since no one got the majority, secular parties came together, and there is a common philosophy behind it."

Kumaraswamy over Shah's "unholy" remark added,"This philosophy is to protect everyone's interest, and if you think this is unholy alliance, your thought process is unholy."

The Janata Dal (Secular) party leader HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday to be sworn-in as Karnataka's state Chief Minister. Along with him, G Parameshwara, the only Congress leader is likely to be sworn-in as deputy CM. No other ministers are to take oath on that day as the power-sharing agreement between Congress-JD(S) is yet to be finalised.

BS Yeddyurappa's tenure, reminiscent of a Bollywood movie, remained a two-day CM. He failed to prove his party's majority and instead opted to resign in the Legislative house, creating a more embarrassment for the party. Soon after the party's failure, BJP Party President Amit Shah called a press conference and called the Congress-JD(S) pact as an unholy alliance. Shah slammed Congress for insulting democracy and for not accepting people's mandate; Shah stated that as BJP emerged the single largest party with 104 MLAs as compared to Congress, which won 78 seats and appeared as the second party; therefore, the latter has no right to stake the claim to form a government.

Karnataka state politics saw a significant political turbulence in past few days after the assembly results threw a fractured mandate; no political party got full majority creating uncertainty over which party will form the government.
