HD Kumaraswamy Fights to Save Government, Flocks All JD(S) MLAs to Bengaluru's Golfshire Resort
The Janata Dala Secular (JDS) on Monday shifted its MLAs from Taj West End hotel in Bengaluru to Golfshire at Nandi hills road in the outskirt of the city in Devanahalli. The move is aimed at preventing alleged horse trading bid by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
Bengaluru, July 8: In a desperate effort to save the government in Karnataka, the Janata Dala Secular (JDS) on Monday shifted its MLAs from Taj West End hotel in Bengaluru to Golfshire at Nandi Hills road in the outskirt of the city in Devanahalli. The move is aimed at preventing alleged horse trading bid by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Earlier in the day, 12 JDS ministers submitted their resignations. The development came hours after 21 Congress ministers resigned for the cabinet. After the resignations, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that the Cabinet will soon be reconstructed. Meanwhile, CM HD Kumaraswamy exuded confidence that the government in the state will run smoothly and the present political crisis will be resolved. JDS MLAs Teken to Golfshire:
On Monday, two independent MLAs H Nagesh and R Shankar also quit the government. Nagesh gave a letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala withdrawing support to the coalition government and offered support to the BJP. Meanwhile, Shankar only resigned from the Council of Ministers.
Including Nagesh, 14 MLAs withdrew support to the coalition government. A total of 11 MLAs resigned on Saturday, while Vijayanagar MLA Anand Singh and Gokak legislator Ramesh Jarkiholi had resigned on July 1. Of the 14 MLAs, 10 rebel MLAs who are currently staying in Mumbai’s Sofitel hotel will now shift to Goa. At present, the alliance has a support of 105 MLAs, while the BJP also has 105 legislators in the assembly.
