Bengaluru, June 26: During the second leg of his "village visit" programme, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy encountered protests, with employees of the Yermarus Thermal Power Station staging a demonstration and raising slogans against him. An irate Kumaraswamy struck back asking "why you voted for Modi?"

Faced with unexpected protests, Kumaraswamy lost his cool and lashed out at the demonstrators who were demanding a pay hike.
The Chief Minister asked why they want him to get their work done when they overwhelmingly voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lok Sabha elections 2019.

"I will ask the police to conduct a lathi charge. You vote for Modi but expect me to solve your problem," HT reported Kumaraswamy as saying.
Notably, Kumaraswamy's Janata Dal (Secular) and its state-ruling ally Congress were reduced to 1 Lok Sabha each from Karnataka, whereas, the BJP won 25 of the 28 constituencies in the state.
