Mandya, October 27: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy made another emotional speech on Friday during an election rally in Mandya. Kumaraswamy broke down while addressing a gathering and said he might not live for very long. The Janata Dal (Secular) leader also said he did not become chief minister to make money.

“I might not live for very long. I was lucky to have survived in Israel when I went there on a study tour last year. But as long as I am alive, I will do everything possible to serve you all," teary-eyed Kumaraswamy said. Although the chief minister refused to reveal what happened in Israel, multiple reports said he had suffered a heart attack just before Assembly polls in the state. Kumaraswamy Breaks Into Tears; Says, 'Only He Knows The Pain Of Coalition Government': Watch Video.

“I had to go to hospital day before yesterday. I won’t say what was the reason, but the day I betray my people, even though I’m alive I’m like dead,” Kumaraswamy said. “I don’t know for how many days I will live, but with the reins of power in hand, I will strive to give life to as many poor people as possible in the state," he added.

B S Yeddyurappa Slams Kumaraswamy

However, Kumaraswamy's emotional speech drew flak from BJP state president and former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who advised the chief minister to focus on development rather than shedding tears. “There is anarchy in the state as people are suffering. Developmental work has come to a standstill. Your emotional speeches won’t affect the people as they are already in distress," Yeddyurappa was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Kumaraswamy broke down while expressing 'pain of heading a coalition government'. At an event, he had said that his party men and others might be happy that their Thamma (brother) has become the chief minister, but he’s not happy at all because he’s the one who knows the pain of heading a govt which doesn’t have the mandate of the people.
