BJP's Manmohan Goyal wins the mayoral post in Rohtak municipal corporation. BJP candidates were also elected mayor in Hisar, Yamunanagar, Karnal and Panipat Nagar Nigams.
In Hisar municipal corporation, BJP candidate Gautam Sardana was elected as mayor. He defeated a Congress-backed candidate, Rekha Iran by 28,091 votes.
BJP's Madan Singh has bagged the mayoral post of Yamunanagar municipal corporation defeating Congress-backed candidate Rakesh Kumar by over 4000 votes.
BJP leader Avneet Kaur is set to win the mayor post in Panipat municipal corporation. She has secured a lead of over 34,000 votes against Congress-backed candidate Anshu Pahwa.
In Panipat municipal corporation (Nagar Nigam), BJP’s mayoral candidate Avneet Kaur is leading by more than 32,000 votes over Congress-backed candidate Anshu Pahwa.
In Karnal municipal corporation, BJP's mayoral candidate Renu Bala Gupta is leading by just 36 votes over Asha Wadhwa, who has the backing of BSP, INLD and Congress.

Chandigarh, December 19: The results of municipal elections 2018 in Haryana will be declared today. Counting of votes for the elections results of five municipal corporations and two municipal committees has begun. Polling in Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak and Yamunanagar municipal corporations and Jakhal Mandi and Pundri municipal committees was held on December 16. Elections to Hisar, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak and Yamunanagar municipal corporations recorded 60 to 65 per cent voting. Yamunanagar municipal corporation recorded the highest percentage of polling. As many as 136 wards, spread across five civic bodies, went to polls. In a first, the mayors of the five civic bodies will be elected directly through the general public. Earlier, elected councillors used to nominate the mayor.
A massive 89.5 per cent voter exercised their franchise in Jakhal Mandi municipal committee elections, while 82 per cent polling was recorded in Pundri. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested elections on its symbol, while the Indian National Lok Dal fielded their candidates for just mayoral post. The Congress and Aam Aadmi Party didn't contest on their symbol but supported some independents candidates for councillor post.
NOTA or 'none of the above' option will be treated as a 'fictional candidate'. If all the contesting candidates individually receive fewer votes than those cast for the fictional candidate, NOTA, none of the candidates will be declared elected. The polls will be cancelled and held afresh, said Haryana Election Commissioner Dalip Singh.
