Sonipat, August 23: An investigation has been ordered by Haryana government Health Minister Anil Vij, into the death of an infant after reports that the ambulance carrying the infant got stuck while it was on its way to the hospital, allegedly due to a rally held by a Congress leader Ashok Tanwar.

"A four-member SIT comprising of Addl SP Rajiv Deswal, one SHO and two Inspecting Officers constituted for investigation in the incident where an infant had died after the ambulance he was being taken in allegedly got stuck in Congress leader Ashok Tanwar's cycle rally on 21 August," reported news agency ANI.

According to reports, the baby died at PGI, Rohtak, after the delay caused in getting him to the hospital because of the traffic jam which was caused by the Haryana Pradesh Congress President Ashok Tanwar's rally in Sonipat on Tuesday.

Ashok Tanwar had organised a 'Haryana Bachao Parivartan Lao' cycle rally near Kundli village on NH 1. The rally was organised against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Rafale deal.

According to reports, the rally caused a traffic jam which led the ambulance carrying the infant a delay of at least 30-40 minutes, which proved costly for the life of the baby.

A complaint has been filed at the Kundli police station by the family members of the deceased. Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that a case will be filed based on the statement of ambulance's driver. The minister also added that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the death of the infant due to the delay caused.
