Chandigarh, September 23: With less than two weeks to go for the assembly elections in Haryana, campaigning for the October 5th polls is in full swing. The 90-member Haryana assembly will go to vote on Saturday, October 5. The results of the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 will be declared along with the Jammu and Kashmir polls on Tuesday, October 8. This year's Vidhan Sabha polls in Haryana are significant, considering the fact that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA alliance and the Congress-led INDIA Bloc won five seats each of the 10 Lok Sabha seats.

While the two parties will witness a direct fight, other parties, such as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jannayak Janata Party, and Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) alliance, regional parties, and Independent candidates, will play crucial roles in the assembly election results outcome. As candidates leave no opportunity to win voters' hearts with promises and guarantees, we take a look at some of the key candidates and their constituencies going to poll on October 5. Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: From Nayab Singh Saini in Ladwa to Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Garhi-Sampla Kiloi, List of Key Candidates and Constituencies.

Pravesh Mehta

The Faridabad assembly constituency of Haryana will see a three-way battle between AAP leader Pravesh Mehta, Congress candidate Lakhan Kumar Singla, and BJP leader Vipul Goel, among others. Goel is a former minister and BJP leader who won the Faridabad seat in the 2014 Vidhan Sabha polls. The saffron party trusted Goel while dropping its sitting MLA Narender Gupta from the Faridabad seat. Since 1996, the Faridabad seat has been held for two terms each by the BJP and the Congress party.

Subhash Sudha

For the October 5th poll in Thanesar, the BJP has fielded its sitting MLA Subhash Sudha, who will be up against AAP leader Krishna Bajaj and Congress candidate Ashok Arora. Sudha, who has been elected as an MLA from the Thanesar seat since the 2014 assembly elections, will be looking to make a hat trick while other candidates will look to upset the sitting MLA. The Thanesar assembly is part of the Kurukshetra district in Haryana.

Aseem Goel

In the October 5 election, the Ambala City assembly constituency will see BJP's Aseem Goel take on AAP's Ketan Sharma and Congress leader Nirmal Singh. It must be noted that Goel, who is a sitting MLA from the Ambala City seat, is also a minister in the Nayab Singh Saini government. While Goel is aiming to make a hattrick by winning the 2024 Haryana Polls, it is to be seen if Ketan Sharma or Nirmal Singh can snatch victory from Ambala City's sitting MLA. Haryana Assembly Elections 2024: From Kavita Dalal in Julana to Abhay Singh Chautala in Ellenabad, List of Key Candidates and Constituencies.

Chiranjeev Rao

Chiranjeev Rao, Congress' sitting MLA of Rewari assembly constituency in Haryana, will face a direct challenge from AAP leader Satish Yadav and BJP's Lakshman Singh Yadav, among other candidates. In the 2019 Rewari Assembly election, Rao won the seat by defeating BJP leader Sunil Kumar with a margin of 1,317 votes. Rao, who is looking to retain his seat, is married to Anushka Yadav (Dhannu), daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Will Rao win Rewari again, or will AAP or Congress manage to create an upset? We shall know on October 8.

Baldev Singh Mangiana

The Dabwali assembly constituency of Haryana will see a multi-cornered fight with AAP's Kuldeep Gadrana, BJP's Baldev Singh Mangiana, INLD's Aditya Sihag Chautala, and JJP's Digvijay Chautala taking on sitting MLA and Congress leader Amit Sihag Chautala. In the 201 Vidhan Sabha polls, Amit Sihag won the Dabwali seat by over 15,000 votes. However, this time, he will face stiff competition with several candidates in fray to win the Dabwali constituency which is part of Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency.

It remains to be seen whether the Congress or BJP will win the Haryana assembly elections or whether parties such as AAP, JJP, INLD, etc., will emerge as kingmakers. In the 2019 assembly elections in Haryana, the saffron party won 40 seats and was six short of a majority in the 90-member assembly. Post-results, the BJP announced an alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party, led by Dushyant Chautala, to form a government in the state.
