Chandigarh, June 27: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Naveen Jaihind as the Party's chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections 2019. The elections in Haryana will be held in October 2019. The news of Jaihind being AAP’s chief ministerial face was announced Sudhir Yadav, the state media in-charge of AAP at a press conference in Gurgaon on Tuesday.

In the 2014 general elections, Jaihind was AAP’s candidate from Rohtak and had finished with around 46,000 votes in his favour. Reports inform that Jaihind, who is AAP's Haryana unit president is believed to be close to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Both the leaders have been closely associated since Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption movement.

During his press conference, Yadav had said that the party believes in Naveen and has been into student politics for more than 10 years. “He is our (the party's) face,” he added. For the unversed, Jaihind was made the AAP’s Haryana unit convenor in 2016 after Yogendra Yadav was suspended for indulging in anti-party activities. Jaihind is married to senior AAP leader and Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal.

All eyes will be on Haryana elections in 2019. Kejriwal - who hails from Haryana has been holding roadshow. Jaihind was the one who had accompanied Kejriwal during his roadshow at Hisar. During the roadshow, Kejriwal had said that if his party comes into power in the state, it will create a new Haryana. “If you want peace, security, schools, hospitals, roads, then vote for the AAP,” Kejriwal had said.
