Haryana Assembly Elections 2019: Manohar Lal Khattar Casts His Vote in Karnal, Says Opposition Parties Have Lost and Left the Battleground

Over 1.83 crore voters in BJP-ruled Haryana will cast their votes in a single-phase polling to elect the new government in the state. After casting his vote, Khattar said peaceful voting is underway across the state, adding that the opposition parties including Congress have already lost the battle.

Chandigarh, October 21: Incumbent Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday cast his vote in Karnal. The polling for the 90-member legislative Assembly is currently underway in the state amid high security.  Over 1.83 crore voters in BJP-ruled Haryana will cast their votes in a single-phase polling to elect the new government in the state. After casting his vote, Khattar said peaceful voting is underway across the state, adding that the opposition parties including Congress have already lost the battle. "Voting is underway peacefully across the state. Earlier in the day, Khattar was seen riding bicycle to polling booth in Karnal. The BJP led by Khattar in Haryana is seeking re-election in the assembly polls. As per the Election Commission data, brisk polling was going on in many districts while Panchkula district had the lowest polling percentage at 2.4 6 percent till 9 am.

Polling began at 7 am on Monday amid tight security and will continue till 6 pm today.  The election result would be out on October 24, coinciding with the Maharashtra assembly election result. A total of 1,169 candidates, including 105 women, are in the fray. One candidate is transgender.
