Chandigarh, October 17: Polling for the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 21. The counting of the votes and results will be declared  on October 24. As per government data, around 1,169 candidates are in fray for the upcoming polls in the state. In the polling this year, the political battle is between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. As per  details available, while the BJP and the Congress are contesting on all 90 seats, the BSP is in fray on 87 seats, and the INLD is contesting on 81 seats. Smallest and Largest Constituency in Haryana

As per government data, the smallest constituency in Haryana is Narnaul with 1,44,066 voters while the largest is Badshahpur with 3,96,281 voters. The total population in the state accounts to 2,90,00,521 people, out of which 1,53,25,319 are men while 1,36,75,202 are females. Hansi has a maximum of 25 candidates in the running, while Ambala Cantt and Shahbad have just six.

The data reveals that a total of 1,82,82,570 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming elections in the state. Out of the total size of electorate in the state, 97,74,543 are males while 85,07,775 is the female population.

Age & Sex wise composition of Electorate

In the age group of 18-19 years, 3,82,446 youth are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming polls. Out of the total,  2,65,975 are male voters while the number of female voters is 1,16,430 in this age group. In the age group of 20-29, the total number of voters is 40,67,413 out of which the male voters accounts for 23,60,490 while that of female voters is 17,06,804. A total of 1169 candidates are in fray for the upcoming polls in Haryana. Out of the total 1169 candidates, 1064 are men, 104 are females and 1  person from other category.

During the upcoming polls in the state, 19,578 polling stations have been made available to facilitate hassle-free voting which will use 27,611 VVPATs. In 2014, the BJP rose to power by forming a single-majority government in the state. Manohar Lal Khattar, considered a relative outsider with strong RSS roots, was appointed as the Chief Minister following the polls.
