Haryana Assembly Elections 2019: Former Indian Hockey Team Captain Sandeep Singh, Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt Join BJP

Weeks ahead of Haryana Assembly Elections 2019, former Indian Hockey captain Sandeep Singh and Olympic medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday. Both the renowned sportsperson entering the political arena have raised eyebrows of the opposition Congress.

New Delhi, September 26: Weeks ahead of Haryana Assembly Elections 2019, former Indian Hockey captain Sandeep Singh and Olympic medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt joined Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday. Both the renowned sportsperson entering the political arena have raised eyebrows of the opposition Congress. According to the news agency ANI, Sandeep Singh joined the BJP in the presence of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala. Even wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt too, joined the party in the national capital in the presence of the state BJP president Barala. The new development in the political arena comes days ahead of the Assembly polls, in the same fashion, it was done before the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Earlier, famous Haryanvi singer Sapna Choudhary too joined the BJP. The reports of Choudhary joining BJP got confirmation weeks after the speculations that they would-be joining Congress. During the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 too, rumours of Choudhary joining Congress gained momentum. However, the possibility was quashed after the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 results.

Pugilist Vijender Singh had joined the Congress too before Lok Sabha Elections, and was fielded from South Delhi constituency. However, he emerged defeated. As per to a survey, published by ABP C-Voter survey had predicted a sweeping majority for CM Manohar Lal Khattar government in the Assembly Elections 2019. The survey claims BJP would secure 78 out of 90 seats in Haryana.
