Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday thanked the people of Haryana for blessing them in the Assembly Elections 2019. "I thank the people of Haryana for blessing us. We will continue to work with the same zeal and dedication for the state’s progress. I laud the efforts of hardworking BJP Karyakartas who toiled extensively and went among the people to elaborate on our development agenda", PM Modi tweeted.
In Haryana, the ruling BJP is six seats short of the majority mark to form a government. Reports inform that incumbent Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has staked claim to form the government.

According to reports, Gopal Kanda, Haryana Lokhit Party leader, who was accused of rape with a flight attendant, has won from the seat of Sirsa by 602 votes. In the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections, Makhan Lal Singla of INLD won in this seat. In candidate by a margin of 2938 votes which was 2.04% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INLD had a vote share of 32.3% in 2014 in the seat. In 2009, Kanda had won the seat by defeating the INLD candidate.

On Monday, the highest polling was recorded in the Ellenabad constituency at 83.62 percent while the lowest was in Badkhal with 49.18 percent. According to most exit polls, the BJP is expected to retain power in both the states, which are already under the rule of the saffron party. The exit polls also predict that the other parties including the Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) are expected to be worse that what they secured in 2014. As per government data, nearly 1,169 candidates are in fray for the upcoming polls in the state. This year, the BJP and the Congress are contesting on all 90 seats, the BSP is in fray on 87 seats, and the INLD is contesting on 81 seats. There are some 375 candidates contesting as Independents. The counting in Haryana on Thursday will be held along with the counting of counting of votes in Maharashtra. The term of the 288-member Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9 and that of the 90-member Haryana assembly on November 2.
In the last assembly elections held in Haryana in the year 2014, the BJP had won the majority with 47 seats followed by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) with 19. The Congress, which was the then ruling party in the state, managed to bag just 15 seats. Two seats went to the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC), and one each to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Five Independents were also elected.
