New Delhi, July 20: Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has taken a dig at Congress President Rahul Gandhi today after he hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the parliament during the monsoon session. Speaking to news agency ANI, Badal mocked the Congress president. She said that Gandhi embraced the PM only under the influence of drugs.
The union minister claimed that she had even asked the Congress president that what did he smoke today beforey before coming to the parliament. She also blamed the Gandhi for defaming Punjabis by calling them drug addicts. During the election campaigns for the assembly elections in 2017, the Congress had promised to curb drug menace in the state.

The Congress held the Akali government responsible for involving in drug peddling. Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh had even recommended the Centre over the death penalty for drug peddlers and smugglers. The Punjab chief minister had also ordered the dope test for all the government employees of the state.
The Congress president on Friday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government on several fronts including demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax (GST), unemployment, Rafale deal during a debate on the No-Confidence Motion in Lok Sabha. Gandhi charged the government of causing hardships to the common man through its policies. Gandhi after his speech walked across the aisle and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
