Amaravati, April 8: 175 constituencies of Andhra Pradesh Assembly, including Gurazala, Hindupur, Ichchapuram, Jaggampeta and Jaggayyapeta will go to polls on April 11. The results of Andhra Pradesh Vidhan Sabha polls will be declared on May 23. Stakes are high for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) which won Gurazala, Hindupur, Ichchapuram and Jaggayyapeta seats in the 2014 polls. The Jaggampeta seat was bagged by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).

While the main electoral contest is between the TDP and the YSRCP, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are also trying to make inroads in Andhra Pradesh. The process of filing nomination for Gurazala, Hindupur, Ichchapuram, Jaggampeta and Jaggayyapeta assembly elections began from March 18 and the last day was March 25. Scrutiny was done on March 26 and the last date for the withdrawal of the nominations was March 28. Achanta, Addanki, Adoni, Allagadda, Alur Assembly Elections 2019: Candidates, Poll Dates, Results Of Andhra Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Seats.

Of the 175 seats, the TDP bagged 102 in the 2014 Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls. The YSRC won 67 seats, while the BJP got four. Navodyam Party (NP) got one seat. One independent candidate also won.
