Mumbai, April 30: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veterans, now appointed as Governors of two different states - Anandiben Patel of Madhya Pradesh and Tathagata Roy of Tripura - have given fodder to the Opposition parties.  Both the Governors are feeling the wrath for helping BJP workers. According to reports, Governor Roy had drawn flak for over a letter to Tripura CM Biplab Deb, which recommends appointing a Bengal BJP worker as an advisor to the state government.

The opponents slammed Roy for his letter. CPI(M) MLA Sujan Chakraborty, in his tweet, accused him of the constitutional violation.

However, Roy’s statement to the Indian Express stated that there was nothing 'remotely improper' about his actions. His quote stated, "I am recommending a person in an advisory capacity who has the qualifications. What is remotely improper about it? Shall I recommend an unknown person? Does that make sense? Some mole in CM’s office has fished out this letter.”

Similarly, Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel had received flak for making controversial remark during her recent visit to Chitrakoot district. As per IANS news report, Patel stated that the BJP leaders will get votes only when they adopt needy and malnourished children. Patel’s statement captured in the video, and widely shared on social media on Saturday said, "Go to every village. Sit with the poor children, take them in your lap, show them affection. You must adopt them and fulfil their needs if you want to get votes. You will not get votes just like that."

Taking the opportunity of the remark made, the Congress party demanded action against her. According to The New Indian Express, the Congress party state spokesperson Narendra Saluja said that the video has exposed the Madhya Pradesh governor, who is using the constitutional post to further the BJP's electoral cause. "This is unethical and unconstitutional as no governor should become an election manager of any political party. We will write to the president about the governor's actions and demand suitable action against her," he said.
