New Delhi, October 25: Former Union Minister Uma Bharti on Friday openly disapproved Bharatiya Janata Party's moves to take support from Haryana Lokhit Party’s lone MLA Gopal Kanda in order to form government in the state. In a series of tweets, Uma Bharti said that Gopal Kanda cannot get away with crimes just by winning an election and urged the BJP not to take the tainted legislator's support in Haryana. "This is the same Gopal Kanda because of whom a girl and her mother committed suicide after not getting justice, the case is still pending in court, and this person is out on bail. Whether Gopal Kanda is innocent or guilty, the law will decide on the basis of evidence. However, winning this election does not acquit him of his crimes. There are many factors in winning an election," Uma Bharti tweeted. 'Gopal Kanda, Five MLAs to Offer Unconditional Support to BJP'.
"I request the BJP that it doesn't forget its moral foundations. We have a force like Narendra Modi... not just the country, but the whole world is with Modi Ji," she wrote, adding that she wishes a BJP government to be formed in Haryana. She further added that "one should ensure that those who are with us are as clean and spotless as BJP workers". The Congress also reminded the BJP that at one time they had also held protests against Gopal Kanda.

"Once upon a time, the BJP took out rally against Gopal Kanda demanding his resignation and arrest. Now they are desperate to take his support in Haryana, he is accused of rape and murder. Where is Beti Bachao Beti Padao now? This is a disgrace... Is he purified by supporting BJP," the Congress tweeted. Kanda, a former minister in the Congress government of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, won from Sirsa assembly constituency by a margin of 602 votes.
