Gondia Vidhan Sabha Constituency Election Result 2019 in Maharashtra: Independent Vinod Agarwal Wins MLA Seat in Assembly Polls

Mumbai, September 27: The Gondia assembly seat in Maharashtra has been a Congress bastion in the state. The Congress won the Gondia Vidhan Sabha seat in 2004, 2009 and 2014. Prior to 2009, the Shiv Sena had won the seat twice. The sitting MLA from Gondia constituency is Congress's Agrawal Gopaldas Shankarlal. This time, Agrawal Gopaldas Shankarlal switched side and joined the BJP. He contested against Amar Prabhakar Warade of the Congress. The Election Commission announced the schedule of Maharashtra assembly elections on September 21. According to the schedule, polling in Gondia and other 287 constituencies of Maharashtra assembly will be held on October 21. The last date for filing nominations is October 4. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by October 7. The Election Commission will count votes on October 24 and the results will be declared on the same day. Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019: Congress-NCP to Contest on 125 Seats Each.

In 2014 assembly elections in Maharashtra, the BJP came to power winning 122 seats. The Shiv Sena, which broke ties with BJP and went solo in the polls, managed to bag 63 seats. The Congress and the NCP, too, contested polls separately and won 42 and 41 seats respectively. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and the Peasants and Workers Party won three seats each. Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM secured two seats.

Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha and Samajwadi Party won one seat each. Seven Independents were also elected. Parties are yet to announce candidates for Gondia assembly seat.
