Panaji, May 23: The results of Lok Sabha Election 2019 in Goa and other states and union territories held in seven phases, will be declared today. The two Lok Sabha seats in Goa will also see the winners today. Voting for Lok Sabha polls was held in Goa on Tuesday, 23rd April 2019. Goa consists of two Parliamentary seats - North Goa and South Goa. The coastal state witnessed a single-phase election with a voter turnout of 71.09 per cent. The primary electoral contest for two seats is between the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. In South Goa, the BJP has fielded sitting MP Advocate Narendra Yadav Sawaikar. He is pitted against Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha and AAP candidate Elvis Gomes contested on the seat. In the Goa Legislative Assembly election, held in 2017, the Congress party bagged 17 seats, while the BJP won 13. Amongst the other parties, the Nationalist Congress Party secured 1seat, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak secured 3 seats followed by Goa Forward Party that secured 3 seats and Independent 3. The BJP managed to form the government with the help of allies and Congress turncoats.

As per the ECI website, there are 4,86,983 voters in two parliamentary constituencies, including 2,42,694 females and 2,44,289 male candidates. In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJP won both the seats. Shripad Yasso Naik and Narendra Keshav Sawaikar of the BJP won the North Goa and South Goa seats respectively. The Congress is hoping to make a comeback in the state this time.
