Results of the Gaya Lok Sabha constituency, along with other parliamentary seats across the nation, has been declared by the Election Commission of India. Vijay Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) has been named the winner. Gaya, constituency no.38, was among the 4 parliamentary segments in Bihar, which were contested in phase-1. Notification for the first phase polls, which includes the seat of Gaya, was released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 18. Aspirants from the seat were allowed to file their nominations till the date of March 25. The Mahagathbandhan has fielded HAM(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi from the seat, whereas, the NDA candidate is Vijay Kumar Manjhi of the JD(U).
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the battle in Gaya was won by Hari Manjhi, the two-time current MP. The BJP leader has been representing the seat in the Lower House of Parliament since 2009.
