New Delhi, July 20: Lok Sabha MP and Uttarakhand BJP chief Ajay Bhatt claimed that pregnant woman with complications can get relief by drinking one cup of water from Garud Ganga, a river in Bageshwar, Kumaon. Ajay Bhatt went on claim that women can avoid C-section or caesarean delivery by drinking Garud Ganga water. The BJP lawmaker made these claims while speaking in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
"Rub the stone of Garud Ganga, mix it with water and make the patient drink it. There will be no need of caesarean deliveries," Bhatt said while speaking on the central council amendment (homoeopathy) bill in the lower house of Parliament. Elaborating further on “the powers of the sacred river”, Bhatt claimed stones from Garud Ganga can save life of the person bitten by a snake. "Someone from Kakdighat, where Swami Vivekananda meditated, told me that he was scared to entre in his house because a snake was stuck in the rat trap. The family was afraid of being bitten by snake. I told them that a saint from their village has stone from the banks of Garud Ganga river and they should bring it to their house. Within minutes, the snake that was trapped in their house for over a week, crawled out," the BJP MP further claimed. Bhatt, who has also served as the state’s health minister before being elected to Lok Sabha, targetted the opposition for "criticising" ancient ways of healthcare. "I wonder why such miraculous techniques are being criticised by the opposition," the BJP leader said. Congress was quick to take a dig at Bhatt. "The chief minister must distribute stones from Garud Ganga to all hospitals and then no doctor will be needed for deliveries and snakebite cases," Congress said.
