Mumbai, October 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed an election rally in Panvel area of Maharashtra’s Raigad district. PM Modi asked the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state assembly elections like they did in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 and should bring back Devendra Fadnavis back to the power. Taking a leaf out of Bollywood, PM Modi said, “Formula of Narendra & Devendra has been super-hit in last five years...When Narendra & Devendra stand together, one+one becomes 11 and not two.” The prime minister kicked off his election campaign in the state from Jalgaon and Sakoli on October 13. The prime Minister also hit out at the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party for alleged links with underworld and builder mafia in the real estate sector. He said, "Congress and NCP leaders have not been able to wash away those stains till now."

Earlier in the day, PM Modi addressed another rally in Akola. During the rally in Akola, he slammed the opposition parties for criticising the Centre for abrogating the Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “For political gains, some are openly saying that Article 370 has nothing to do in Maharashtra Assembly Polls, that J&K has nothing to do with Maharashtra. I want to tell such people that J&K and its people are also sons of Maa Bharti only.” Later in the day, PM Modi will also attend a rally in Jalna.
The assembly elections in Maharashtra is scheduled to take place on October 21. The counting of votes will be held on October 24 and on the same day results will be declared. The BJP is contesting the polls in alliance with the Shiv Sena. The saffron party is contesting on 164 seats, while the Shiv Sena has fielded its candidates on 124. Out of 164 seats, the BJP has also given tickets to leaders of smaller alliance partners.
