New Delhi, June 18: Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan got agitated when reporters surrounded him asking questions about the Encephalitis outbreak in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. Over 100 children have died in Muzaffarpur due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). Harsh Vardhan attempted to parry questions from reporters and said he had told them everything at the previous press conference.

In a video, Harsh Vardhan is seen walking away from reporters. On being asked repeatedly about deaths in Muzaffarpur due to AES, the union minister said that he has nothing to add. "I am not addressing a press conference here. I have said whatever I wanted to say. We are doing our best. We are monitoring the whole thing hourly," he told reporters. Asked about his promise on the construction of a super-speciality hospital at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, Harsh Vardhan said the project was in an advanced stage. On Tuesday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital where 107 children have died due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). Hundreds of angry protesters staged a demonstration outside the hospital and shouted slogans like "Chief Minister wapas jao (Go back Chief Minister)".
