New Delhi, April 18: The Election Commission on Thursday censured Union Minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who landed in row following his "Modi Ki Sena" remark during a rally in Rampur. The polling body has asked the veteran politician to be more careful and desist from making any reference to security forces for political propaganda.

The Commission had issued a similar warning to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier in the month, who had also referred to the armed forces as "Modi Ji Ki Sena" while praising the air raids on the largest terror camp in Pakistan's Balakot. 'Modi Ki Sena' Row: Yogi Adityanath Warned by Election Commission, Asked to 'Be More Careful'.

Naqvi, while campaigning for BJP candidate Jaya Prada in Rampur, repeated the controversial statement. "Congress ke log aatankvadiyon ko biryani khilate the aur Modi ji ki sena aatankvadiyon ko goli aur gola deti hai (Congress fed terrorists biryani while Modi’s army feeds them bullets and bombs)," the Minister said.

The Congress had submitted a complaint to the Commission, asking the poll body to take stringent action against Naqvi for politicising the armed forces.

Ahead of the announcement of the poll schedule, the EC had issued a circular barring all political parties from using the images of armed forces for electioneering purpose.
