Dry Days During Elections: Alcohol Sale Banned From May 17 to 19 in Constituencies Going For Phase 7 Lok Sabha Polls; Check Full List And Dates
A total of 59 seats, spread across seven states, are set to go polls on Sunday, including the high profile seat of Varanasi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency.
With the campaigning for the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 coming to end on Friday, the sale of liquor will be banned for the next 48 hours or two days in the constituencies of states which are going for polls on May 19. The ban will be continue till the conclusion of voting in the respective constituencies. Dry days are observed because of the Model of Conduct (MCC), which is imposed for conducting fair elections. The ban on the sale of alcohol starts from 5 PM Friday, May 17, and will be in effect till 6 PM on Sunday, May 19. The voting in Phase seven will take place on May 19, Sunday. A total of 59 seats, spread across seven states, are set to go polls on Sunday. The polling will be conducted for eight (8) Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, three (3) seats in Jharkhand, eight (8) seats in Madhya Pradesh, 13 seats in Punjab, nine (9) seats in West Bengal, 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, four (4) seats in Himachal Pradesh and one seat in the Union Territory in Chandigarh.

A total of 918 candidates are in the fray in the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. About six crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the 59 constituencies in the seven states and one Union territory going to poll on May 19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency, the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat and UP CM Yogi Adityanath's bastion Gorakhpur will vote in the final phase of polling on Sunday.
