Divya Spandana, Congress IT Cell Head, Deletes Twitter Account; Chirag Patnaik Follows
After Divya Spandana quit Twitter, another member of Congress IT cell, Chirag Patnaik, also deleted his account on the micro-blogging site.
New Delhi, June 3: Divya Spandana aka Ramya, who heads the Social Media and Digital Communications wing of the Congress, on Sunday deleted her Twitter account, along with the tweet history, triggering speculation over her future plans. After Divya Spandana quit Twitter, another member of Congress IT cell, Chirag Patnaik, also deleted his account on the micro-blogging site.
On Sunday, Spandana's Twitter handle disappeared and all the tweets from her verified Twitter account showed as deleted. Her sudden exit from the microblogging site came a few days after she congratulated Bharatiya Janata Party's Nirmala Sitharaman for taking charge as Union Finance Minister. This sparked speculation over Spandana's political future. Divya Spandana Hits Back at PM Narendra Modi, Says 'You Took Canadian Citizen Akshay Kumar Onboard INS Sumitra'.
While Congress leaders remained tight-lipped about Spandana action, sources close to the former MP and actress told news agency PTI that she was taking a break from politics for some time. She had led the Congress’s social media campaign during the just-concluded Lok Sabha election, in which the grand old party managed to bag only 52 seats.
Hours after Spandana's exit from Twitter, Chirag Patnaik, a former social media manager of Congress, also left the micro-blogging site. Patnaik had been arrested as a former employee with the cell accused him of violating her personal space and indulging in immoral behaviour. Later, Divya had defended him.
