'Disastrous Prime Minister': Mamata Banerjee Pitches For a Movie on PM Modi on Lines of Accidental Prime Minister

Kolkata, January 11: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday trained guns at Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing an official function in Nadia district of the state. Referring to Modi as a disastrous leader, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said a move will be made on him in the future -- on the lines of 'The Accidental Prime Minister' on ex-PM Manmohan Singh.

"If there is a movie on Accidental Prime Minister then there should be a movie titled as Disastrous Prime Minister. This will be made in future. No one will be spared," Mamata said, while addressing a gathering in Nadia, where the foundation stone of Kanyashree University -- an all-women varsity -- was being laid. Mamata Banerjee Withdraws West Bengal From Ayushman Bharat Yojna.

Banerjee's remarks comes amidst an escalated controversy over the release of The Accidental Prime Minister, with Congress cadres staging a protest in Delhi on Friday. The party workers have called the movie a "propaganda", aimed at "defaming" Manmohan Singh.

Despite the demand by party cadres in Congress-ruled states to ban the controversial film, the respective state governments have decided not to intervene, as it would be violative of the freedom of speech and expression. Not Manmohan Singh, I Was 'Accidental Prime Minister', Says Deve Gowda.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the BJP is attempting to divert the nation's attention towards non-issues. "Fake propaganda by BJP won’t desist us from questioning the Modi Govt on rural distress, unemployment, demonetisation disaster, flawed GST, failed Modinomics and all pervading corruption. Nation wants governance, not diversion," he said.
