Bhopal, December 11: The results of the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections 2018 will be declared today. Counting of votes for poll results of 230 seats, including Dimani, Ambah, Ater, Bhind, Lahar and Mehgaon assembly constituencies, will begin at 8 am. Dimani, Ambah, Ater, Bhind, Lahar and Mehgaon seats will witness a triangular contest between the BSP, Congress and BJP. In Dimani, the electoral contest is between BSP candidate Chhattar Singh Tomar, Congress's Girraj Dandotiya and BJP's Shiv Mangal Singh Tomar. The seat is currently held by Balveer Singh Dandotiya, who contested on BSP's ticket in 2013. This time, he contested as Jan Adhikar Party candidate. In Ambah, BSP's sitting legislator Satyaprakash Sakhawar is facing a challenge from Congress candidate Kamlesh Jatav and BJP's Gabbar Sakhwar. Congress's sitting MLA Hemant Satyadev Katare took on BJP's Arvind Singh Bhadoria in Ater assembly seat.
In Bhind, BJP replaced its sitting legislator Narendra Singh Kushwah with Rakesh Choudhary, who is in an electoral contest with Congress candidate Dr Ramesh Dubey. Congress also fielded a fresh face, Dr Govind Singh, from Lahar assembly seat. Govind Singh faces a challenge from BJP's Rasal Singh who came in the second position in 2013. The Mehgaon seat witnessed a fight between BJP's Rakesh Shukla and Congress candidate OPS Bhadoria, who lost the 2013 election by less than 2000 votes to BJP's Choudhry Mukesh Singh.
In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP is seeking for a fourth consecutive term under the leadership of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, whereas the Congress is trying hard to return to power after a gap of 15 years.
