Ranchi, March 5: Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd) Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday slammed Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for calling the Pulwama Attack an “accident”. Responding to the senior Congress leader's statement, the union minister said, “With due respect, I would like to ask Digvijaya Singh Ji, was Rajiv Gandhi's assassination an accident or a terror incident?” Digvijaya Singh Terms Pulwama Terror Attack an 'Accident'

Union Minister Gen (R) VK Singh's comment on Digvijaya Singh's statement:

Meanwhile, HRD minister Prakash Javadekar also hit out at the Congress over Digvijaya’s comments. He said that the grand old party is trying to prove the armed forces wrong. He further added that in a democratic country, the security forces are never questioned. Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also slammed the senior Congress for his comments. Prasad said that Digvijaya should be ashamed of himself. He added, "Union Min Ravi Shankar Prasad on Congress leader Digvijaya Singh terming #Pulwama terrorist attack an “accident”: Has Digvijaya Singh reduced himself to such a low level that he will call the most heinous terrorist attack on 45 CRPF jawans as an accident? This is their thinking."

Prakash Javadekar responding to Digvijaya Singh:

Ravi Shankar Prasad's sharing:

When asked about the casualty figure in the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) operation of destroying Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camp in Pakistan’s Balakot, the former Army chief said, “Attack was only at one place, nowhere else. The target was selected carefully, away from residential areas to avoid civilian casualty.” BJP Alleges Digvijaya Singh Has Links With Naxals; Arrest Me, Says Congress Leader.

Clarifying Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah’s claim of 250 casualties in the IAF’s air strikes, Gen Singh said, “That was based on people who were housed in the buildings which were hit, it's an estimate. He is not saying this is a confirmed figure, he is saying this many might have died.”

Earlier, in the day, the senior Congress leader termed the dastardly Pulwama terror attack an “accident” and said that “doubt” expressed in some foreign media reports over the February 26 IAF air strike is putting a question mark on the credibility of the Indian government. Singh, a former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, made the remarks while tweeting in Hindi. He said after the Pulwama “durghatna” (accident), and the Indian Air Force (IAF) strike, “sandeh” (doubt) is being expressed in some foreign media reports following which “vishwasniyata” (credibility) of the government is under question.
