Raipur, December 11: Chhattisgarh is all set to witness the big election results day on Tuesday. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am. While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is eyeing to continue its rule under Chief Minister Raman Singh, Congress is hopeful of staging a comeback in power after 15 years. There are candidates from other parties such as Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) also in the fray for the 90 seats in Assembly Elections. Dharamjaigarh Assembly Seat
Dharamjaigarh (ST) is a reserved seat for Scheduled Tribes (STs) candidate in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. Congress had won from this seat in the last election when Lalijeet Singh Rathia defeated Om Prakash Rathia of BJP by 19000 votes. The sitting MLA is in the contest with BJP’s Leenav Birju Rathia and JCC’s Santram Rathia in the current election. The assembly seat is taluk headquarters and an important town of Raigarh district.
Rampur Assembly Seat
Rampur (ST) is part of Korba district of Chhattisgarh and is a reserved seat for Scheduled Tribes (STs) candidate. Shyam Lal Kanwar of Congress is the current MLA from the Rampur constituency who defeated Nanki Ram Kanwar in the 2013 elections by a margin of 9000 votes. He will once again be up against the same man from BJP in the 2018 elections and will also have Phool Singh Rathia of JCC in a three-way fight.
Korba Assembly Seat
Korba, also known as the Power Capital of India due to the presence of a large petroleum complex is part of the Korba district of Chhattisgarh. Jay Agarwal of Congress had defeated BJP’s Jogesh Lamba in 2013 by 14000 seats in 2013 elections to go on to become the MLA. The candidates in the fray this time around from Korba seat are Jaisingh Agarwal from Congress, Vikas Mahto of BJP and JCC’s Ram Singh Agarwal. You also have Vikas Kumar Mahto from Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Lakhan Lal Dewangan from Samajwadi Party (SP).
Katghora Assembly Seat
The Assembly seat of Katghora is part of Chhattisgarh’s Korba district and is famous for the Chak-Chakwa hills which are also known as Hanumangarhi. The last elections from this constituency were won by BJP leader Lakhan Dewangan who defeated Bodhram Kanwar of Congress by 13000 votes. In 2018, BJP have picked Lakhan Lal Dewangan to fight Purushottam Kanwar of Congress and Govind Singh Rajput of JCC.
Pali Tanakhar Assembly Seat
The Pali Tanakhar seat is part of Korba district of Chhattisgarh and is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidate. In 2013, Ramdayal Uike of Congress defeated Hirasingh Markam an independent candidate by 20000 votes to claim the seat. Prior to the 2018 elections, Ramdayal Uike switched allegiance to BJP and faces Mohit Ram Kerketta of Congress and Tapeshwar Singh Maravi of BSP to hold on to his seat.
Marwahi Assembly Seat
Marwahi, a reserved seat for Scheduled Tribe candidates is a part of the Bilaspur seat of Chhattisgarh. The current MLA from Marwahi is Amit Jogi who defeated Samira Paikra of BJP by a huge margin of 46000 votes. He was then a Congress leader but was expelled in 2017 for anti-party activities. His father, Ajit Jogi who is the chief of newly formed JCC is contesting elections from Marwahi in 2018 and faces BJP’s Archana Potre and Gulab Singh Raj of Congress.
