Prajwal Revanna Expresses Desire to Give Up His Hassan Seat to Make Way For Grandfather HD Deve Gowda
The only Janata Dal (Secular) Lok Sabha member Prajwal Revanna has decided to resign his Hassan parliamentary eat in Karnataka to make way for grandfather and JD(S) national president HD Deve Gowda's return to Hassan as an elected member.
Hassan, May 24: The only Janata Dal (Secular) Lok Sabha member Prajwal Revanna has decided to resign his Hassan parliamentary seat in Karnataka to make way for grandfather and JD(S) national president HD Deve Gowda's return to Hassan as an elected member. "To reinstate the confidence of the JD(S) cadre, we have to fill the gap left by the defeat of HD Devegowda, therefore, I've decided to tender my resignation. Prajwal, son of Karnataka's PWD minister HD Revanna, said he will meet his grandfather and convey his decision. He said that he is young and has a long political career ahead. Gowda's rich knowledge had benefited Karnataka immensely, and he should continue to be a Lok Sabha member said Prajwal while offering his resignation.
The 86-year-old leader vacated Hassan parliamentary seat to field his grandson Prajwal, and contested from Tumkur, where he faced defeat from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Gowda's other grandson Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of CM HD Kumaraswamy, also lost from Mandya, to the independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh.
