Demonetisation Anniversary: Rahul Gandhi Attacks PM Narendra Modi, Says 'Note Ban Was Well-Planned Move to Waive Off Loan of Modi-Mitrs'
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday, took to Twitter on the fourth anniversary of demonetisation and posted a video saying that demonentisation was a well planned move by Prime Minister Modi to use the money of the citizens to wave off the loans of 'Modi-Mitr' (Modi's friends). On November 8, 2016 Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented demonetisation in the country.
New Delhi, November 8: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday, took to Twitter on the fourth anniversary of demonetisation and posted a video saying that demonentisation was a well planned move by Prime Minister Modi to use the money of the citizens to wave off the loans of 'Modi-Mitr' (Modi's friends). He also said that four years ago Narendra Modi started his attack on Indian economy by implementing demonetisation, followed by a wrong GST. Gandhi added that it was not a fight against the black money, as claimed by the Modi government, but "Narendra Modi snached money from the citizens and gave it to 2-3 of his industrialist friends and waived loans worth Rs 3.50 lakh on them. He also said that the government eliminated small businessmen and traders to pave way for few industrialists by implementing demonetisation and a wrong GST. Gandhi added that, PM Modi plans to eradicate farmers as well with the new farm laws passed recently. The congress leader said that is because of demoentisation that India economy is performing worse than the Bangladesh's economy, as opposed to the government's claims that the slow down in the economy is due to COVID-19 outbreak. On November 8, 2016 Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented demonetisation in the country. He announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes will no longer be legal tender and banned the use of the notes for any transactionary purposes. The country was given a defined period to submit all the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes with the banks. According to PM Modi the move was initiated as a fight against the black money in the Indian economy.
