New Delhi, Sep 5: The Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections will be held on September 12. The DUSU elections 2018 will witness a triangular contest between Congress-backed National Students' Union of India (NSUI), RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the alliance of All India Students’ Association (AISA) and the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) student wing, Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS).
ABVP has nominated Ankit Basoya for president's post, Shakti Singh for vice president's post, Sudhir Dedhga for secretary's position and Jyoti Chaudhry for joint secretary's post. NSUI fielded Sunny Chillar against Basoya for president's post, Leena for vice president's post, Aakash Chaudhry for secretary's post and Saurabh Yadav for joint secretary's post.
The AISA-CYSS declared Abhigyan as its candidate for president's post, Ashinka for vice president's post, Chandramani Dev for secretary's post and Sunny Tanvar for joint secretary's post. In all, 24 students filed their nominations for the president’s post, 23 for the post of vice-president, 29 for general secretary and 25 for joint secretary this year.
On 12 September, the voting is expected to start at 8.30 am and end by 7.30 pm. However, the date and venue for the counting of votes have not been announced yet, IANS reported.
