Delhi Power Tariff Sees No Hike For Fifth Consecutive Year; Arvind Kejriwal Congratulates Delhiites, Says 'Capital Only Place in India With 24x7 Electricity Connection'

New Delhi, July 31: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday put out a tweet congratulating the capital for witnessing no “hike in electricity tariff”. The Delhi CM also claimed in his tweet that the city on the contrary saw “reduced tariffs” for the fifth year in a row. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recently been criticizing the AAP government for increased power bills.

The Delhi CM's tweet comes in the wake of the regulator announcing the power tariff changes in the capital. Delhi Power regulator, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, announced that consumers will get a relief on the fixed charges of electricity.  The commission's announcement means that consumers using less than 1,200 units will pay less fixed charges on power.

The issue of electricity bills has been integral to Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAM) right since the inception of the party.

Delhi voters will recall how Kejriwal used to carry bills with him to highlight during election rallies the alleged increased electricity “tariffs” during former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s government.
