Dehradun, April 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoj Tiwari's helicopter made an emergency landing in Uttarakhand on Monday afternoon, due to the turbulent weather in the state. Preliminary reports claimed that heavy rains combined with storm forced the pilot to land the chopper near Dehradun.

Tiwari, a Lok Sabha MP and chief of the BJP's Delhi unit, is one of the party's star campaigner in Uttarakhand. The five parliamentary constituencies of the hill-state goes to polls in the first phase of the elections, scheduled on April 11. Congress Neglected Dalits, Defeated Vision of Ambedkar, Says Manoj Tiwari.

Ahead of the elections, opinion polls had given BJP the edge in the five seats of Uttarakhand, with an average of all major surveys predicting at least four victories for the ruling party.

Meanwhile, the BJP is yet to confirm the candidature of Tiwari from North East Delhi, the constituency currently being represented by him in the Lok Sabha. Party insiders have, however, confirmed that Tiwari would be getting the ticket from the same parliamentary seat.

In the 2014 elections, Tiwari had won North East Delhi by a margin of nearly 1.4 lakh votes against his nearest AAP rival, Prof Anand Kumar.
