New Delhi, November 4: A chaos erupted at the launch of the Signature Bridge in the national capital, as Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari was heckled and assaulted by "AAP supporters" at the inauguration event.

Tiwari, who represents the North-East Delhi parliamentary constituency where the iconic bridge is located, has accused the Arvind Kejriwal-government to "hijacking" the project by not inviting him at the inauguration ceremony.

Since the launch event was open for the general populace, Tiwari, along with his supporters, reached the venue which led to a scuffle.

In the video below, watch Manoj Tiwari involved in a scuffle with a policeman, "whom he accused of being an AAP supporter":

Tiwari said he would ensure rigorous action against the police officials who were involved in the scuffle against him. "I have identified them. Within 4 days, they will know the results of their actions," he said.

AAP Delhi unit chief Dilip Pandey blamed Tiwari and his supporters for the chaos. "Thousands of people have come here to celebrate without an invitation card, but the MP (Manoj Tiwari) considers himself VIP. He is doing hooliganism. BJP people thrashed AAP volunteers and local people. They are admitted to hospital," he alleged.

Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee called the incident a "blot on the political history" of Delhi. She blamed the BJP and the AAP of lowering he political discourse in the national capital to an unprecedented level.

The Congress also pointed out that the bridge was originally conceived in 2004 under the Sheila Dikshit government, and the construction had begun way before she demitted office in 2013.
