New Delhi, January 20: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led a grand roadshow in the national capital on Monday, enroute the Election Commission office where he was scheduled to file the nominations from New Delhi assembly seat. Kejriwal, the supremo of ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is contesting for the third consecutive time from the constituency. Check Full List of Candidates Named by AAP For Delhi Elections 2020.

In the last two elections from the seat, Kejriwal has won with an outright majority. In 2013, he had succeeded in defeating Congress' heavyweight and the then Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, by a margin of over 25,000 votes. In 2015, his prime challenger - the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Nupur Sharma - ended up losing her deposit.

Kejriwal, the sitting legislator from the New Delhi assembly seat, is predicted by pollsters to retain the constituency. The Congress and the BJP are yet to announce their respective candidates from the key assembly segment. The last date for filing of nominations is January 21.

The assembly elections in Delhi are slated to be contested in a single phase on February 8. A total of 70 seats are in the fray. The Election Commission will declare the results on February 11, when the counting of votes has been scheduled. In the last assembly polls, held in 2015, the AAP was awarded a decisive mandate with 67 seats.
