New Delhi, January 19: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday made a slew of promises to the voter ahead of assembly elections. Releasing a 10-point "guarantee card", Arvind Kejriwal promised that residents of Delhi will get 24-hour drinking water and electricity if his AAP is voted to power. "I am giving 10 guarantees to the city. This is not a manifesto. This is superior to the manifesto. These 10 things are the issues which affect all the people in Delhi," Kejriwal told a press conference. The AAP won 67 out of 70 assembly seats in the 2015 elections and it feels that free power and water - upto 200 units and 20,000 litres - helped them to win the support of common citizens. For women's safety, Kejriwal promised to appoint mohalla marshals if AAP comes to power. To control pollution in the national capital, Kejriwal's "guarantee card" has a plan which includes plantation of 2 crore trees and a promise to clean the Yamuna. While the garbage management is with the MCD, the AAP said it will make the national capital garbage-free in the next five years.
Kejriwal promised road, water supply, sewer, CCTV and mohalla clinics for the unauthorised colonies, and 'pucca' houses to people living in slums under the 'Jahan Jhuggi Wahin Makan' scheme. Elections will be held on February 8. AAP has named candidates for all 70 seats, fielding 46 sitting MLAs and 24 new faces.
