Daman, March 10: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday declared election dates for the upcoming general polls. Notable, it's the 17th Lok Sabha election. In Daman and Diu, the election is going to take place on April 23, 2019, in a single phase. Daman and Diu Lok Sabha constituency is the only Lok Sabha constituency in these Union Territory. In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) won the constituency with 53.80 per cent vote share defeating Congress by a margin of 10.5 per cent. In the last elections, BJP's Lalubhai Patel secured 46,960 votes defeating Congress with a margin of 9,222. Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bahujan Samaj Party had also contested 2014 elections securing 3rd and 4th position. It is worth to know that, NOTA (None of the above) secured more votes than AAP and BSP combined in 2014.
