Independent Candidate Delkar Mohanbhai Sanjibhai has defeated BJP candidate Natubhai Gomanbhai Patel to become the MP in the Dadra and Nagar Haveli constituency. He won by a margin of 9000 votes.

The counting of votes for the Dadra and Nagar Haveli constituency has begun at 8 am. This seat is reserved for the scheduled tribes.


The counting of votes for Lok Sabha elections 2019 for the constituency of Dadra and Nagar Haveli began at 8 am today. Dadra and Nagar Haveli is the only Lok Sabha constituency in this union territory. The election here was held in phase 3 of general elections on April 23, 2019. This seat is reserved for the scheduled tribes. The total voter turnout recorded here was 79.59%. A total of 11 candidates contested for this one seat. BJP and Congress are having a tough fight in this union territory. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) nominated Shri Natubhai Gomanbhai Patel while the Indian National Congress (INC) had chosen Prabhu Ratnabhai Tokiya. The current member of parliament (MP) from Dadra and Nagar Haveli is Natubhai Gomanbhai Patel. In 2014 general polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the constituency with 48.88 per cent votes. Patel defeated Congress' Mohanbhai Sanjibhai Delkar by a margin of 3.76 per cent. The UT had recorded a voter turnout of 84% back then. The 2014 elections are notable because almost 2,962 people had opted for the ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option.

The very first elections in the constituency of Dadra and Nagar Haveli took place in the year 1967. The Indian National Congress (INC) has won in the UT for maximum times. While the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has won thrice. This was the 17th Lok Sabha election to be conducted in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
