Kolkata, May 3: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has cancelled all her political campaigns for the next two days in the wake of Cyclone Fani. According to a tweet by ANI, Banerjee will stay in Kharagpur, near the coastal belt on May 3 and May 4 and monitor the situation herself.  In West Bengal, the tropical storm is likely to have maximum impact in districts of East and West Medinipur, South and North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Jhargram and Kolkata. Cyclone Fani made a landfall in Odisha's Puri on Friday and is likely to have impact in Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Balasore in Odisha. In Andhra districts like Srikakulam, Vijayanagram and Visakhapatnam districts are likely to be affected. Cyclone Fani: All Flights From Bhubaneswar, Kolkata Cancelled For 24 Hours

The  India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been issuing hourly bulletins with latest forecast to all the states concerned. It informed that after the landfall in Odisha, it is very likely to move north-northeastwards, weaken gradually and emerge into Gangetic West Bengal as a severed cyclonic storm and move to Bangladesh after weakening.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Thursday informed that all flights to and from Bhubaneswar have been cancelled for 24 hours starting midnight of May 3 in view of the impending severe cyclonic storm 'Fani' threat over the Bay of Bengal. The regulatory body for civil aviation issued an advance order to cancel all flights to and from Kolkata between 9.30 p.m. on May 3 and 6 p.m. on May 4 to ensure safety of operations during the cyclone.

In the wake of the cyclonic storm, a million people to safer places as the country’s worst cyclone in more than five years, causing widespread devastation.
