CPM candidate from Raiganj Mohammad Salim has raised questions on the authenticity of PM Modi's academic qualifications, asking "How did He Attend Classes During Emergency?"
Kolkata, April 29: Days after Prime Minister declared his assets and educational qualifications in his election affidavit for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, CPM candidate from Raiganj Mohammad Salim has raised questioned on the authenticity of PM Modi's academic qualifications.
Taking the help of PM Modi's election affidavit, Mohammad Salim pointed out to Bachelor Degree from Delhi University in 1978, stating that the Premier was underground during Emergency which lasted from June 1975-March 1977. He took to Twitter and wrote, "1. NaMo was underground during Emergency which lasted from June 1975-March 1977. 2. A full-time BA degree in DU begins in June & requires 3 years of study. 3. His course started literally the same month the Emergency was imposed. How did he attend classes during emergency?"

Earlier, PM Modi filed his nomination for Varanasi, he had declared that he holds a master degree in arts from Gujarat University in 1983 and a graduate degree from Delhi University in 1978. Along with this, he had declared that he has assets worth Rs 2.5 crore including a residential plot in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar.
The prime minister has invested Rs 20,000 in tax saving infra bonds, Rs 7.61 lakh in National Saving Certificate (NSC) and another Rs 1.9 lakh in LIC policies. He has four gold rings, weighing 45 grams, valued at Rs 1.13 lakh and possess about 3,531 sq ft plot in Sector-1, Gandhinagar. The value of the property, which includes a residential unit on the plot, is assessed to be Rs 1.1 crore, according to the affidavit.
